Asa Mendelsohn
Asa Mendelsohn is an artist, writer, and teacher motivated by transfeminist politics and possibilities for transformation through close listening. He has facilitated performances with students and workers in schools, basements, museums, a shopping mall, and an airport, and has shared work via phone, radio, and venues including Kunsthalle Wien, Links Hall, Künstlerhaus Halle für Kunst und Medien, The Blanton Museum of Art, and Anthology Film Archives. Asa has written for and with friends, including scripts and librettos for Ubundu and Aphasia (dir. Jelena Jureša) and essays published in Social Text, Sounding Out!, Momus, The Brooklyn Rail, and elsewhere. A Fulbright Fellow, Flaherty Film Seminar Fellow, and Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grantee, Asa is currently teaching at Guttman Community College, CUNY.
