Jordany Genao
Jordany Genao is a multidisciplinary artist and educator based in Brooklyn and originally from Ayiti the indigenous name for Dominican Republic & Haiti. Outside of art and teaching they are passionate about plants, astrology and films. They use embroidery, ceramics, found objects, and fabric to explore their taino indigenous heritage. Their work revises colonial history to engage with the Caribbean as an ongoing decolonial power. They also explore the spaces queerness challenges conventional sports imagery and materials. Their work has been featured at Flux Factory in Queens, they have also received an award from MoMA’s educational department. They are currently pursuing their Masters at CUNY Hunter.
