Calling all advocates, organizers, and designers!

CUP is looking for collaborators for our next round of community education projects. Our unique community-engaged design process brings together community organizations working on critical social justice issues and designers interested in learning about community engagement. Together, we’ll create a visual guide that uses accessible language and innovative design to explain a complex policy, law, or system.

There are two types of projects you can make through this open call:

Making Policy Public projects are 8- to 10-month long collaborations between CUP staff, a designer (or design team), and an organization advocating for community change. The result is a fold-out poster that explains a broad, complex policy or system. Organizations receive 1,000 free copies of the final product, and designers receive a $7,000 honorarium. Public Access Design projects are 4- to 6-month long collaborations between CUP staff, a designer (or design team), and a community organization. These projects result in pocket-sized booklets that are smaller in scope, and are often a good fit for advocates responding to more urgent organizing needs. Organizations receive 1,000 free copies of the final product, and designers receive a $4,000 honorarium. To learn more about Public Access Design and see examples of past projects, click here.
